Lifestyles the focus at Asian Youth Climate Summit
Participants at the inaugural Asian Youth Climate Summit had a lot to chew on. More than 160 of them, along with some local and international experts, brought to the summit lots of ideas for youth action on climate change.
One of the favorites was the White Coffin campaign that was championed by Abe Woo and his colleagues at Universiti Sains Malaysia. It aimed to eliminate the use of styrofoam food containers in all public universities in Malaysia. But that was just the beginning. The discourse at the summit was far more ambitious. Delegates recognized we have to change our lifestyles. We have to change the way we live.
That’s a message we like to hear. That’s what we need to do!
2degreesC’s David Noble was a keynote speaker at the Summit. He delivered the Al Gore-inspired presentation similar to that featured in the Academy-award winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth. He followed that with the debut performance of his spoken word story of youth engagement on climate change, which features photography from Robert vanWaarden.
